Border czar Tom Homan underscored how the United States is determined to target the “foothold” that drug cartels have within the country, thanking President Donald Trump for aiding him in fighting gangs, such as Tren de Aragua.
Homan detailed how some drug cartels are operating in almost four dozen different countries, and have drastically increased their businesses to having a hold of “every major city” within the U.S. As such, he and the U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement are “concentrating” on drug cartels and the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.
ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, IT’S TRUMP FILING THE LAWSUITS
“They have a strong foothold here, and that’s why we’re concentrating on drug cartels, concentrating on TDA, Tren de Aragua, I’m not going to be happy till every single one of Tren de Aragua is out of this country,” Homan stated on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “They need to be eradicated, along with MS-13.”
Homan added that Trump has proven to be pivotal in combating illegal immigration, specifically how the president deemed Tren de Aragua a “terrorist” organization. He also forewarned that the U.S. will bring “the weight of the world” on this gang, and that Trump will “wipe them off the face of the earth” before he leaves office.
The border czar also rebuked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for hosting a webinar on her Facebook page advising them on what to do if they come in contact with an ICE agent. He added that he hopes the congresswoman is not educating the next illegal immigrant who “gets out and murders a young college student in Georgia,” referring to Laken Riley, a University of Georgia nursing student who was murdered by a Venezuelan national in February 2024.

In an appearance on CNN, Homan promised to “look into” whether Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) is harboring an illegal immigrant. Murphy recently said at an event that someone in his “broader universe, whose immigration status is not yet at the point that they are trying to get it to,” is living “at our house above our garage.”
Last week saw Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) announced plans to veto a bill in California that would limit state prison officials’ cooperation with ICE. It comes shortly after Attorney General Pam Bondi stated the U.S. Department of Justice would be suing Illinois and New York for their sanctuary laws.
