Elon Musk has weighed in on the tense meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and former President Donald Trump at the White House on February 28. During the meeting, Trump accused Zelenskyy of “gambling with World War 3” and disrespecting the U.S. for its support of Ukraine. The encounter, which was supposed to focus on a minerals deal, ended with Zelenskyy leaving before the agreement was signed.
Following the meeting, Musk commented on Zelenskyy’s public image, stating that his actions had “damaged himself severely in the eyes of the public.” Musk shared a post highlighting a drop in American trust in Zelenskyy, from 72% to under 48%. He also referenced a peace plan he had proposed in October 2022, advocating for Ukraine to seek peace to avoid further loss of life. Musk criticized Zelenskyy for choosing war over peace, calling the decision “cruel and inhumane.”
Despite Musk’s comments, many continue to support Zelenskyy and his stance amid the ongoing conflict. After the White House meeting, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for U.S. support and reiterated his desire for strong relations with America.
