In March 2025, a food safety scare involving Coca-Cola shook consumers after plastic foreign objects were found inside select cans,

prompting a federal recall. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) initiated the recall on March 3, affecting Coca-Cola Original Taste 12 fl oz cans distributed in Illinois and Wisconsin.

The recall, which included 864 twelve-can packs, was linked to a batch with a specific date and time code. The FDA warned that the foreign objects could cause serious injuries, including cuts or internal damage to the mouth, throat, and digestive system.

The recall is classified as a Class II, meaning health risks are low but could cause temporary harm. This incident highlights growing concerns over food contamination recalls.
